What is Vision?
Vision is the act of anticipating what will or may come to be. It is the ability to see the invisible and make it visble. It is also the ability to see the future before it happens. Some people say "to see is to believe," but to make the power of visualization work, to believe is to see. You have to believe it before you can see it; you have to see it before you can have it.
Vision gives us direction - it gives us the ability to know where we are going.
Vision gives us purpose - It gives our lives meaning. We are not only alive but we truly have life.
Vision gives us the passion - it gives us the determination to keep on going.
Vision gives us power - it gives us the power to translate our dreams into reality.
A Tale of Two Visionaries
To understand the power of vision, allow me to share with you two stories about vision.
There was a man who came to the Philippines at the young age of twelve. He worked in his father's small sari-sari store and helped his family for more than twelve hours every day. The store was located on Echague St., Which is now Carlos Palanca Sr. Street in Quiapo, Manila.
This man's Vision was to build the biggest department store with everything in it. When he shared his vision to his friends and relatives, not everyone believed him. Some even laughed at him. He did not have a huge capital to start with, but this man held on to his vision. Where is this man today? Out of a store called Shoe Mart, the brand SM was formed. To date, SM Prime Holdings, Inc. has not only built department stores, but this company has also ventured into convenient stores ( Save More ), banking ( BDO ), real estate, and building condominiums ( SMDC ).
This man is none other than Mr. Henry Sy , a business tycoon in the Philippines
Another young man also had a vision. He was a ninteen year old computer whiz who wanted to create a service that was functional and useful to the students of Harvard, and later to students in other schools. He was driven by his vision of a changing world in which the internet made it dramatically easier to share information between people. His new service offered no content of its own, and made no judgments about how users would employ it. His invention was nothing but a platform - a receptable for the contributions of its users. You can post your feelings, comments, shout-outs, picture and ideas, all in a user - friendly manner. Through his passion and commitment, he devoted to fulfilling the potential he saw in this new king of platform for sharing. Because of that vision, Facebook was born.
This man is the remarkable Mark Zuckerberg.
